Sunday February 15 we have an event around "The Big Island"...it's from the Giant Oars on the Petone foreshore and around Matiu (Somes Island) and return a distance of 8.3 km.
There will also be a short course option which will run out and around a buoy near the Wharf on Matiu Island and back....that's a distance of 6.5 km.
If the conditions on the day are decidedly average we'll may well run a multilap course on the Hutt River and we'll be based at Sladden Park.
We will be at the Giant Oars for registration from 7.30 am......if we aren't there...the course has changed and we will be setting up buoys on the Hutt River from Sladden Park. Again follow the event weather updates 7 days out (with updates every second day) till Saturday 9 am to see how things are shaping up.
The event will be open to all waka ama, adventure racing doubles, stand up's and surf skis.
It'll be a "tier two event" the entry fees will be:
$10 singles
$15 doubles
$30 sixes
$5 students and over 65's
The Event will start at 9 am.
Come on and support this event with more waka ama and stand up's, sea kayaks and we'll get more photos of you all and establish this as another must do event in Wellington.
Of course don't forget the Motorway Classic on March 15.....it's going to be huge.....and professional Coaching From ICF World Champion Sean Rice (South Africa) in Wellington March 9 & 10, March 14 & 15.
